Compared to many countries in the region, Vietnam is considered as a country with great potential for Logistics development because of its strategic geographical position in Southeast Asia – Asia – Pacific, long sealine, young population, the labor force is receptive, applying advanced science, especially the open-door economic policy, increasingly integrating with the world.
However, currently high quality human resources in the field of Logistics in Vietnam are seriously lacking. Currently 80.26% of employees in logistics enterprises are trained through daily tasks, 23.6% of employees participate in domestic training courses, 6.9% of employees are trained by foreign experts, only 3.9% are allowed to participate in overseas training courses. These research data showed that the logistics human resources of Vietnam are not only in shortage in quantity but also in quality. This is very unreasonable for a service industry of up to 22 billion USD, accounting for 20.9% of the country’s GDP, the annual growth rate of 20-25%.
In the face of scarcity, the training and development of human resources for the logistics industry is becoming very urgent. Currently, the training and skill improvement program in this sector is carried out at three levels: Training at formal training institutions; training under the program of the Business Association of Logistics Services (VLA) or logistics research, training centers or coordination programs between the Government of Vietnam and governments and consulting organizations; Internal training in enterprises …
With the goal of vigorously developing human resources in logistics industry in Vietnam in the coming time, opportunities and possibilities of success for logistics students are also assessed to be higher, especially for students who are well-trained in businesses. This is a great opportunity for students to know pursue a career in Logistics.
