Against a backdrop of global economic volatility and the urgent need for transformation in Vietnam’s logistics industry, the 2024 Vietnam Logistics Conference, themed ‘Transformation for Breakthrough’, was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 31st. Organized by Dau Tu Newspaper and backed by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the event featured a noteworthy exhibition by Dongtam Group and Long An International Port. A subsequent site visit to the port offered delegates a firsthand look at its operations, fostering connections, and exploring opportunities for collaboration within the logistics sector.
The Vietnam Logistics Summit 2024 attracted over 300 delegates, including leaders from government agencies such as the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Transport, industry experts, logistics companies, and representatives from domestic and international business associations.
The Vietnam Logistics Summit 2024 served as an important forum for experts and businesses to share experiences and seek solutions to promote digital transformation and enhance the efficiency of Vietnam’s logistics sector, meeting the increasingly high demands of the market. The conference attracted over 300 delegates from ministries, sectors, businesses, and leading consulting units.

In his opening speech, Mr. Le Trong Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Bao Dau Tu newspaper, highlighted the bright prospects of Vietnam’s logistics sector thanks to free trade agreements, favorable geographical location, and government support. However, to fully capitalize on these opportunities, the logistics sector needs significant transformations. The National Assembly is actively promoting digital and green transformation strategies, emphasizing the importance of upgrading and innovating the logistics sector. At the same time, businesses need to proactively innovate and enhance their competitiveness to meet the market’s increasingly high demands and elevate their position on the global logistics map.

The Vietnam Logistics Summit 2024 featured two in-depth panel discussions on the industry’s urgent issues, such as modernizing logistics infrastructure, enhancing supply chain efficiency, promoting digital transformation, and developing new logistics business models.

With strong growth, the logistics sector has been actively contributing to Vietnam’s international economic integration, helping Vietnamese businesses expand their operations and enhance their competitiveness in the global market. However, along with opportunities, the logistics sector also faces significant challenges, especially in the context of digital transformation and rapid technological changes. Anticipating new trends, improving infrastructure, and enhancing supply chain management capabilities are key factors for the logistics sector to break through and maintain competitiveness.

In his speech at the conference, Mr. Do Thanh Trung, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, stated that although Vietnam’s logistics sector has achieved positive results in recent times, there are still some existing limitations that need to be addressed soon for the sector to break through and develop commensurately with its potential and strengths.

In the second session tackling “Transformation to Breakthrough,” speakers discussed issues such as digital transformation and technology application, including: leveraging the integrated potential of Big Data, Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence (AI); developing smart infrastructure; restructuring supply chains associated with green and sustainable development.

For the first time, as part of the 2nd Vietnam Logistics Summit in 2024, Bao Dau Tu newspaper, in collaboration with Dongtam Group and Long An International Port, organized a port tour on November 1, 2024. This program allowed potential customers to explore and exchange information about Long An International Port and showcase various storage and production facilities.
At the ceremony, Mr. Vo Quoc Huy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Long An International Port, shared, “Vietnam Logistics Summit 2024 has affirmed the importance of digital and green transformation, which Long An International Port is also pursuing.” He also believes that with close cooperation among enterprises, management agencies, and the community, businesses will together build an increasingly modern and sustainable Vietnamese logistics industry. The site visit to Long An International Port will connect experts and businesses in the industry, research advanced solutions, and create valuable business networks.
The Vietnam Logistics Summit 2024 has successfully concluded, providing opportunities for associations, logistics enterprises to meet, exchange needs and potential linkages, and expand business networks; at the same time, having a comprehensive view of the logistics sector, development trends, thereby researching and building more optimal and efficient service models to meet market demands. Simultaneously, helping the business community build cooperative relationships and continue to expand their network, aiming to perfect the Vietnamese Logistics Supply Chain in general, build a business network based on cooperation, innovation, and progress, towards Green Logistics and Sustainable Development of the logistics industry in Vietnam.
